‘Inheritance’- installation and performance at Box 13

Posted March 7th, 2013

Inheritance, an installation and live performance by The Bridge Club, will be on view at Box13 Art Space in Houston from March 9- April 20, with the live performance taking place Tuesday, March 19 from 5-8PM (to coincide with the NCECA conference). Please join us!

Inheritance is an accumulative exhibition and live performance featuring the simple, domestic act of washing dinnerware. In its initial state, the installation features the spare arrangement of fragile, unfired porcelain dinnerware, awaiting activation through use. Midway through the exhibition, the actions of the live performance will activate and transform these objects, and by the exhibit’s close, the installation will consist of residues.

The work’s title, Inheritance, refers to the physical and emotional belongings, expectations and legacies that are passed down between generations.

‘Still,’ exhibit of large scale performance photographs at Art palace

Posted January 7th, 2013

Still, an exhibition of photographs by The Bridge Club, will be on view at Art Palace gallery in Houston, TX from January 11 – February 16, 2013. A short live performance work by The Bridge Club will also take place during the exhibit’s opening reception, to be held on January 11 from 6-8pm. We hope to see you in Houston!

From the exhibit’s press release:
“This collection of photographs connects the spaces, objects and roles occupied by The Bridge Club’s temporal performance works. Each still offers intimate access to the hypnotic and beguiling worlds they create. Through intentionally isolating and freezing these fleeting moments the artists allow for an alternative experience of their work to draw new connections through time, space and narrative action.”
